Case got the idea from their forefathers at Joseph Rodgers and Son from Sheffield, England. Their knife, the Wharncliffe Whittler, was named after a noble Englis Patron by the name of Lord Wharncliffe, Case got the name for their knife from the unique shape of the handle which is similar to the curved shape of a seahorse.
