Cold Steel President Lynn C Thompson’s passion for knife-training is well known by all of our customers. A lifelong Martial Artist who still trains martial arts at least 16 hours a week, he has dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge pertaining to the combative application of the blade. From his lectures and demonstrations at the Soldier of Fortune conventions and the Gunsite Academy Edged Weapons Symposiums of the 80’s and 90’s, to his present day training of members of our nation’s military and law enforcement - he has shared his knowledge and experience with some of our nations most honored and respected tactical experts, and the most common question that they ask, time and time again is “Mr. Thompson, what knife do YOU carry?” As the designer of many of our most memorable blades, and the lead designer of our in-house R&D department, Lynn often switches out between different knives. But one blade has remained a constant favorite of his ever since its initial development over 20 years ago – the Vaquero!
